Client/ Owner: River Ridge Development Authority

Contract/ Value: Confidential

As part of the largest redevelopment effort in the southern Indiana / Louisville, Kentucky area, Atlanta Demolition remediated, abated and demolished two World War II era coal-fired power plants located within an active US Army Munitions complex.

The first step was to abate all asbestos containing materials and decontaminate the former processing and power generation equipment. Any equipment that could be reused, repurposed or recycled was removed and sold prior to demolition. After the demolition of the power plants, which included the removal of eleven 250’ tall smokestacks, the remaining structural concrete was crushed into aggregate for reuse in the redevelopment project as backfill.
